Collecting Report: Species caught today included Red Goatfish, Northern Pipefish, Bandtail Pufferfish (Tiny, tiny. You just wouldn't believe how small these were), and a Northern Barracuda.

Pet Corner: Why monkeys don’t make good pets (and why some humans don’t make good pet owners).  I know the pet trade has made a lot of progress in most areas, but this is just cruel to keep these animals.  A friend of mine who owns a pet store told me that when he first opened in the late 60's his suppliers would try to sell him lion and bear cubs, chimpanzees and crocodiles.

Cecil hits on it near the end of his answer.  I hate my alarm clock.  A lot.  And I know for a fact that 30 seconds or so before it goes off the clock emits a very faint clicking noise.  In order to avoid the horror of the buzzing alarm, by brain has conditioned itself to awaken at the sound of this click.  Bottom line is that I set my alarm every night and I could not tell you what it sounds like.  It’s been years since its actually served it’s purpose.  Of course, the damn dog gets up at 5:30 every morning, so this could be part of the reason as well.

Another one bites the dust.  One of my favorites, South Knox Bubba, has quit blogging.  Ok, then.

Pet Corner: Today’s tip.  As your dog gains weight, loosen his collar.

It took me forever to find a working clip of this Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978.  Apparently it played once as a two hour TV show and then was shelved by Lucas for obvious reasons.  It is just awful and features some so-bad-they're-funny skits including Chewy's hideously ugly family, a song by Bea Arthur, a music video from Jefferson Starship, a four-armed alien Julia Child, singing Carrie Fisher, an ad by C-3PO for Star Wars action figures and the requisite "Wilhelm Scream". And I think that was Art Carney as an imperial officer.
