Here’s a map of the areas that will benefit most from “Obamacare” (anyone who uses that term should be slapped in the head). Notice that, in general, the blue states that would most likely support health care reform benefit least, and red states that are more likely to oppose it would have the most to gain. You can plug your zip code in to see what percentage of non-elderly in your city would take part. Mine clocks in at 9%, way, way below the average. I live in a very blue town in a very blue state.
The healthcare thing really gets to me. I work in an area with a very large government and contractor population and, as you might expect, a very strong conservative streak. And, of course, all those government and contractor employees get very good health insurance, all paid for by tax dollars. But give that to anyone else? Not on your life.
