If you’ve been following the Sandra Fluke/Rush Limbaugh issue, she did a great job on The View. I’m thrilled Republicans are discussing non-issues in this primary, making that party look even more neanderthal-like and out of touch. And as usual, Stewart nails it.
Tuesday coonhound blogging on Thursday: Creole’s having a tough week. After recovering from a near-fatal bout of pancreatitis, she’s now dealing with a pretty serious skin condition. Monday night I noticed about a dozen bumps on her that felt like mosquito bites. You really couldn’t tell they were there unless you touched her. Here’s what I woke up to yesterday morning.
We spent three hours at the vet’s last night and they are completely stumped. I’m awaiting the blood work and biopsy results. The incredible speed, literally overnight, that these lesions appeared is the most puzzling part of all for them. To top it all off, because of the pancreatitis they can’t give her steroids to relieve the itching. The cone of shame (otherwise known as an Elizabethan collar) didn’t work since she tore it to shreds within an hour, so I’m now trying to keep her covered with an old tee shirt. It’s not working all that well either. If you want, you can click to see the lesions in all their glory.
That's amazing. Poor, poor dog. They have shaved around the lesions, right?

Yes, I actually did all the shaving while they worked on her.

Oh, Mark - that poor baby! I didn't know a dog could destroy an Elizabethan collar! I was going to suggest using an elastic bandage to hold the shirt on, but, if she destroyed the collar, that wouldn't work.
I hope she gets better.

Sad to hear! The story of the progression of those lesions sounds like the result of some sort of parasite acquired via pest bite. (Disclaimer: IANAV)

You need a vet who is House MD.
