I spoke to Terry Coppage (aka: Bartcop) over the phone several times over the past decade or so.
Back in 2005 I signed up to contribute a mere $10 a month to help his cause, and for that I was what he called one of his “Bartcop pillars”.
Terry died the other day, from complications of leukemia. I felt like I knew that crazy guy living in his hellhole of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
His last post featured a photo of a “pi car” that I took in the parking lot of my dermatologist’s office (scroll down about half way).
Here’s what Tbogg has to say.
He even has a wiki page.
And what I had to say about him, a freak event of six-degrees, and a t-shirt I bought from his website back in 2008.
He numbered his posts, which is where I got my post title system from (he ended at Entry #3198, so I win). He also left his wife, Mrs. Bart, a mortgage she can't pay and asked for his supporters to help her out when he died. You can contribute here.
Early on in the history of The Biomes Blog I asked him how I should approach this new blogging thing. He told me by email to “write what you know and write something new every day”. The Biomes Blog, and my Marine Life Series, wouldn’t have existed without him.
